A. TMUxMIT Hackthon?
- International Center for Health Information Technology, Taipei Medical University collaborates with MIT Sana Global Team, Boston, US, and MIT Critical Data (MIT - Critical Data, @MITCriticalData, mitcriticaldata) to promote an intensive integrative program designed to build local capacity and enhance locally sustained innovation. The program is deliberately structured to advance projects from idea to implementation.
- This hackathon brings participants and local clinicians together to share ideas and bring theory into practice. The 3 day event allows engineers to immediately apply concepts to actual projects, and work in multidisciplinary teams to develop rapid prototypes and solve real problems. These projects may then be continued as research or startup ventures, while also allowing local students to expand their health informatics knowledge.
- Grouping method : each team will consist of 4~5 people, the goal is to group participants from different fields into one team (group member assigned by TMU )
- In order to have a fair hackathon, and let all the participants to be able to engage actively; 2018 TMU only accept personal applicant this year. Therefor, please fill out the questionnaire carefully so that we can do out best to group you with like-minded people.
B. Rating Criteria
We'll rate your final product based on:
- VALUE
possible influence/ value to patient, medical, healthcare...
- FEASIBILITY
- INNOVATION
D. Registration process / ticket price
※Please fill out the registration form/questionnaire first※
- Open registration, Everyone with age above 18 is welcome to participate! (August. specific date TBA)

E. Participant Objectives
The participants are brought together with local clinicians to share ideas and innovate in an organized Hackathon, bringing theory into practice. The 3 days event allows engineers to immediately apply the concepts and lessons on actual projects, working in multidisciplinary teams to develop rapid prototypes and solve real problems. These projects then may be continued as research or startup ventures, while other students can benefit by continuing with more extensive health informatics training.
- Intensive program for doctors、computer science and management students
- Accelerated exposure to global health informatics
- Introduction to healthcare big data and platforms
- Understand the complexities of the clinical thought process and the factors that drive quality improvement
- Intensive practical hacking sessions using existing open source tool

Theme: From Complex Healthcare Data to Serious Clinical Solutions - the AIoT approach
While Big Data has become part of the trend in 21st century, the needs for analyzation and application of healthcare related data have stand out as one of the most urgent priority. By combining artificial intelligence and IoT into the normal clinical process, it would enhance the traditional clinical experience in many different aspects. No matter it's the clinical experience between doctor and patient, reduction of cost or improvement of management...etc, the AIoT approach is believed to be the future best solution!
Thus, we would like to invite all the best hackers to join us, together with the experienced mentors from Taiwan, US, India and Singapore, we can't wait to see how this year's TMUxMIT(Sana) Hackathon would be!
